Specialist care for complex neurological symptoms
Neurological conditions are usually managed by specialists using established medicines and therapies. These help many people, but symptoms such as nerve pain, muscle spasticity and seizures can remain difficult to control for some.
In certain situations a specialist may consider prescription medical cannabis. Some cannabis-based medicines are already licensed in the UK for specific uses — for example, for muscle spasticity in multiple sclerosis and for some rare, severe forms of epilepsy — while other unlicensed options may be considered case by case.
Every assessment is carried out by a GMC-registered specialist who reviews your diagnosis, history and current medicines. Treatment is never a cure, is not suitable for everyone, and is only considered after recognised options have been explored.
